Q: What license size do I need to buy? |
A: Lanecat employee monitoring software licensing is based on the number of computers you are going to monitor, You will not be able to monitor more computers than the license size you purchase. For example, if you have 10 computers in your LAN that you want to monitor you should consider buying 12 computers license. We also offer Extra licenses. If you need to monitor a few more computers than your base license allows, you may buy and Extra license for each of them. This license adds to your base license.
We also offer upgrade of license size. For example, you can upgrade from 12 computers to 50 computers license. Contact us for details . |
Q: What is Lanecat employee monitoring software used for? |
A: It's a complex solution for controlling the working time of your employees, allowing to monitor, analyze and control their activity at the computer. |

Q: Why a window reading "Running SQL error" will pop up when I stalled the LaneCat console? |
①The computer on which you intall Lanecat console may have had an DB running, you can uninstiall that DB or switch to another computer.
②Maybe your authorization is not adequate ,you can switch to "administor"account. |
Q: Why Lanecat engine show the error of "installation incomplete"? |
A: Maybe Lanecat engine is blocked by anti-virus software or your firewall, just close them before installing, and configure the anti-virus software and firewall in the setting to allow the engine to run. |
| Q: Can LaneCat still work if I close the Lanecat.Client? |
A: As long as the LaneCat engine is running, Lanecat would monitor all Internet activities. But if you want to view log, you should run LaneCat.Client and select monitored computers and monitored item . |
Q: My computer is running on Windows XP, why can't I locate Lanecat.engine? |
A:Just close the firewwall imbeded in Windows XP. |
Q: If LAN in my company has been divided into many VLANs, how can I install Lanecat? |
A: If LAN had been divided into many VLANs by Three-layer Switch, one port of this Switch is the interface to the Internet, you need to mirror this port to an unused one, and set two ports in the same VLAN.

Reboot computer.

You should login as administrator, and check that the Server services are on. Make sure Workstation service is on, delete the LaneCatDB folders and reinstall .
If that doesn't work, close firewall/Anti-virus software and try again. |
Q: Why can't i monitor any comupter after installing Lanecat? |
A: Because the IP range you set is not standard, default IP range for Lanecat is :
- 10.0.0.0~10.255.255.255
- 172.16.0.0~172.31.255.255
- 192.168.0.0~192.168.255.255

| Q: I installed SQL server database when I installed LaneCat last time. Now I want to reinstall LaneCat. If I want to use LaneCat's MSED database instead, is that OK? |
A: Yes, LaneCat supports the default database-MSDE and SQL SERVER; you can choose either. After database installation, If you want to change database, please uninstall LaneCat Engine and database (You should uninstall former database fully otherwise error may occur), then install again. |
Q: I can monitor my own computer,but can't monitor others in the LAN , why? |
A: ①Install Lanecat on the Switch or Route that joins the LAN and Internet.
②Maybe the Switch or Router to which you connect your computer where Lanecat is installed can not mirror its port, then find one that can.
③The IP of monitored computer is not within the same network segment with your computer, then you just need to add that network segment to monitored segment in the setting.
④May be the frewall or anti-virus installed on your computer block Lanecat, you just need to configure the firewall or antivirus to allow Lanecat to run. |
